I started estimating construction projects for a General Contractor at the age of 22 in Escondido, CA. The first bid I estimated took place on February 27, 2024, under the name Marcy Neighborhood Park Improvements for a total amount of $2,913,103.65 U.S dollars ladies and gentlemen. Not going to lie, I was instantly captivated upon the field. I knew that using the right numbers, data, and contacts, one could thrive in this field accurately. Since then I have been revolutionizing, innovating, and innately changing this expertise, for me and the firm I currently work for. I've acquired the aptitudes of an estimator in less than two years, all due to constant practice. I even innovated in the field by publicly launching Wesonder, a web app that aids construction estimators, project managers, and anyone in need of contacts from the construction industry, among other innovations that are to remain secret out of respect to the firm I work for, or because they are not yet finished. However, not everything is pink in color, I've failed in winning all the bids I attempt. Nevertheless, my knowledge is refined on a daily basis due to not only my constant aptitude improvement, but also due to the people around me, which as you might expect, are older, wiser (about estimating and construction as a whole), and experienced. I like to measure and record every single aspect of myself; this expertise is not the exception.
These are all the projects that have been awarded due to myself, and my team's effort and devotion. Some of which have received awards from the corresponding awarding bodies (although this is a merit of the Project Manager more than the Estimating Department). I constantly refine the methodology in which we approach each bid, although I cannot share the spreadsheet that we use as it is intellectual property of the firm I work with, I am working on an universal spreadsheet that will be used by me for my future endeavors in the construction industry. In the meantime, I will keep extracting knowledge from practice, peers, and the instances that I encounter in this industry.
